Wyatt Cenac - Comedy Person (iTunes Version)
Growing up in the '60s and '70s, I watched many variety and comedy shows, including Flip Wilson, The Richard Pryor Comedy Hour, Laugh-In, and The Smothers Brothers. I have seen comedians cover a wide range of topics from humorous personal stories to social and political events that inspired their monologues and gave them their path to our homes and hearts. In the years that have gone by, true comedic wit has given way to a barrage of senseless filth and foul language than does not give credit to the craft. I find that in today’s entertainment industry, it takes pure talent to be able to get past the, and excuse my frankness, the “fart jokes” and “dunce cap” mirth, and Comedy Central has found this humor of intelligent design in Wyatt Cenac. Wyatt Cenac makes his move from television news correspondent on The Daily Show to center stage in his first-ever stand-up special for DVD release. In a live performance at the Skirball Center for Performing Arts in New York, Wyatt Cenac gets real and talks about hilarious topics, like his obsession with internet cat videos, the future of the Medieval Times restaurant chain, life in the New York, the unwritten rules for growing up black, the Tea Party, and why TV makes the best roommate....
